A Celtic Path of Pilgrimage, Presence, and Spiritual Transformation
Christian Formation and Direction Ministries SCOTLAND
About CFDM Scotland
Christian Formation & Direction Ministries [CFDM] is a non-profit Christian ministry incorporated in California in 1996. Its mission is to “lead others into a deeper love for and intimacy with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit through spiritual formation and the art of spiritual direction…particularly through the training, re-sourcing, networking, and supervising of spiritual directors for Christian churches in the western United States.

Life as Pilgrimage
The Celtic tradition understands all of life as a pilgrimage — a sacred journey toward God. Every experience and every encounter offers an opportunity to represent, learn about, and be with the Triune God. Movement, attentiveness, and openness shape the way of faith.
There is a rich history of Celtic prayers and poems that reflect a deep awareness of God’s nearness. These writings often speak of a translucent creation, God’s protection, and the inclusion of all creation as teacher and companion on the journey.
Peregrination & Thin Places
The Celts practiced peregrination — holy wandering — trusting God through movement without certainty of destination. This practice cultivated courage, humility, and deep reliance on God’s presence.
Central to Celtic spirituality is the belief in thin places, where the veil between heaven and earth feels tissue-paper thin. In these moments and places, creation itself reveals God’s essence and becomes a pathway to encounter the Holy.
