A Celtic Path of Pilgrimage, Presence, and Spiritual Transformation
Christian Formation and Direction Ministries Scotland

What We Believe
It has been said, "The more you know yourself, the more you know God, and the more you know God, the more you know yourself." CFDM Scotland walks with you in the journey to know yourself and God more intimately. In this relationship of self with God, transformation, healing, and hope are forged.
Peregrination & Thin Places
Celts practiced "peregrination," a holy wandering. Iona is a "thin place," where the line between heaven and earth is so tissue paper thin that you feel as if you can reach up and touch heaven. Places, spaces, and even people can be a thin space in our lives.
Celtic tradition believes all creation reveals God's essence and provides a pathway to encounter the living God. Hospitality is a core value, and intergenerational life experiences are shared and valued as well.

Life as Pilgrimage
Celtic spirituality holds that all of life is a pilgrimage, a journey toward God, in which every experience and encounter provides an opportunity to represent, learn about, and encounter the Triune God. Celtic prayers and poems include a rich history of themes such as creation, God's protection, hospitality, and the Trinity.
Here on the island of Iona, you are immersed in Celtic traditions and invited to walk in the beauty of God's creation and to be taught by it.
